Just steps from the Arc de Triomphe, tucked behind the façade of the Grand Hôtel Champs-Élysées, La Place is exactly that: a peaceful oasis where Paris suddenly slows down. The Grand Hotel des champs Elysées itself has a story worth knowing. Perched at 78 bis Avenue Marceau, right at the top of the avenue in the elegant extension of Place de l’Étoile, this 5-star address was once the private residence of Louis Vuitton himself, the celebrated trunk-maker whose name now graces one of the world’s biggest luxury houses. The building has since been lovingly restored, keeping the soul of a bygone Belle Époque era while adding every comfort you’d expect from a 5-star stay: 46 rooms and suites in a contemporary style, a top-floor suite with a jacuzzi and a private terrace overlooking the rooftops of Paris, and 24-hour concierge and valet service. But what makes it special isn’t the rooms, it’s what’s hidden behind them.
The real twist is the patio, reachable either through the hotel lobby or discreetly via rue Vernet. Planted with trees and shrubs, sheltered from the city’s noise. It’s the kind of place you almost want to keep secret, perfect for a quiet drink; a discreet business lunch, or an after-work drink that effortlessly stretches into the evening. Chef Didier Pioline runs the kitchen at La Place, reinventing the classics of French bistronomy with fresh, seasonal ingredients and careful plates that feel bold without ever being fussy. Reviewers keep coming back to the same detail: only a handful of tables, which only adds to the feeling that you’ve stumbled onto somewhere the rest of Paris hasn’t found yet. For those who linger past lunch, the hotel’s lounge bar carries the same spirit, with a crackling fireplace, an inviting library, and a menu of signature cocktails and small plates built for slow evenings.

On June 25th, we hosted one of our international afterworks there, in collaboration with Fever-Tree. As the sun slowly set over Paris, guests from all over the world gathered to meet new people, enjoy refreshing drinks, and discover one of the city’s most charming hidden terraces. Fever-Tree brought out their best mixers for the night, pairing them with spirits that let the botanicals do the talking, while the patio’s greenery and soft evening light did the rest. Conversations flowed as easily as the cocktails, friendships were made, and for a few hours, the courtyard felt like a little summer escape in the heart of Paris.
La Place is proof that the best hidden patio restaurant Paris has to offer isn’t always on the busiest streets. Sometimes it’s tucked just behind an elegant hotel entrance, or through a quiet side door on rue Vernet, waiting to be discovered. We’ll certainly be back.
